Denise Di Novi’s Unforgettable stars Rosario Dawson as the new fiancé with a dark past and Katherine Heigl as the crazy ex with a vengeance.
Unforgettable opened citywide April 21, 2017. It ran through May 11.
This is not Nat King Cole’s “Unforgettable”
Julia (Rosario Dawson) is a San Francisco writer troubled by memories of an abusive ex who gets engaged to perfect fiancé David (Geoff Stults). Getting ready for the wedding, Julia moves into David’s Los Angeles home and becomes stepmom to his daughter Lily (Isabella Kai Rice).
The trouble is David’s perfect ex Tessa (Katherine Heigl) is not happy about the situation. She transforms into a “psycho-Barbie” and plots to bring back the past.
Several critics have asked why this 1990s formula keeps getting reworked. It’s probably because the psychotic ex is a real-life character.
The film leans towards camp, but Dawson’s and Heigl’s performances make it fun.
