The Kitchen is an influential performance art theater in Chelsea. Founded in 1971 as a center for video art, many notable artists have passed through early in their careers.
The Kitchen is one of NYC’s Leading Experimental Theaters
Sometimes “experimental” implies amateur, but that is not the case at The Kitchen. It does focus on emerging New York artists, but artists who “emerged” over the years include Philip Glass, Laurie Anderson, Brian Eno, Lucinda Childs, Bil T. Jones, Talking Heads, and Cindy Sherman.
