Queens World Film Festival is a film festival of emerging filmmakers that brings the world to Queens, and Queens to the world.
The filmmakers of Queens have a unique vision. Queens is the most diverse region of the world’s most diverse city, and the starting point of many New Yorker’s American life. New Yorkers deal with a range of experiences that is broader than just about anywhere else. New York City is one of the few places in the world where anything is possible. New New Yorkers find themselves in a world of possibility which is the inspiring foundation for many of the films in the Queens World Film Festival.
New York City is about networking, and so is the Queens World Film Festival. It’s stimulating to be around fellow travelers and others who are farther into their filmmaking journey. The festival includes development workshops. Some alumni go on to important careers in film and television. Go and meet your destiny!
13th Queens World Film Festival 2024
The 13th Queens World Film Festival 2024 screens 152 films from 19 countries at the Museum of the Moving Image and Kaufman Astoria Studios in Astoria, Queens; from April 16-28, 2024. 🇺🇸 🇨🇴 🇲🇽 🇪🇸
This season’s curation organizes the festival into thematic blocks. Many of the themes relate to the New York experience. Opening Night films are about not backing down.
The 2024 Spirit of Queens Honoree is Oscar-nominated filmmaker Yance Ford. Nearly half of the films are made by women.

“Aquí Seguimos (Still Here)” by Spanish director Álvaro Hernández Blanco. 🇪🇸
“Bogotá Story,” by Colombian director Esteban Pedraza, is in the scammers block. 🇨🇴
“Flechas” (Arrows) is by Spanish director Imanol Ruíz de Lara. 🇪🇸
“Infinitum,” by Mexican director Alonso Otero Mireles, is part of the Who to Love block. 🇲🇽
“Piñatas of Earthly Delights” is a short about piñata artist Roberto Benavidez. 🇲🇽
“Unicorns,” a first feature by Spanish director Alex Lora, is about the empty promises of social media. 🇪🇸
