Latin Culture in Woodside Queens
The neighborhood was originally Indigenous Mespeatches land. The original Dutch and English settlers were followed by Germans. The residential neighborhood developed in the 1860s into the biggest Irish community in Queens. Dominicans and Latinos arrived in the 1960s. New Irish came in the 1980s. South Asians moved in during the 1990s.
