Dance Parade 2018

NYC’s 2018 Dance Parade, DanceFest and Afterparty is Saturday, May 19, 2018, rain or shine. Let’s dance!

If you like to dance, you’ll love the Dance Parade’s 10,000 dancers, over 80 styles of dance from around the world, DJs, live bands, dance lessons, and a dance party of course.

2018’s theme is Cabaret of Life,

Dance Parade 2018

The Dance Parade starts in Manhattan’s Flatiron District, marches past Union Square into Greenwich Village, and finishes in the East Village.

  • Starts at 21st St & Broadway at 1 pm
  • Marches down Broadway onto Union Square West which becomes University Place
  • Turns east onto 8th St
  • The Grandstand is in Astor Place at 4th Avenue
  • Ends at Tompkins Square Park at 3 pm

DanceFest 2018

DanceFest is a giant dance party in Tompkins Square Park from 3 – 7 pm.

There are dance lessons and a huge dance party with aerial performances and more on five stages.

Cabaret Afterlife 2018

The 2018 Dance Parade wraps up with an afterparty fundraiser at Nublu 151 in Manhattan’s East Village from 8 pm – 12 midnight. $15 – $20

Celebrate the end of NYC’s cabaret law that was enacted in 1926 to keep white kids from dancing with black kids in Harlem. New York City Council member Rafael Espinal introduced the legislation that finally repealed the law in 2017. Let’s dance!

Dance the night away with DJs Doc Martin and 2Melo, and visuals by VJ Krunch at one of Manhattan’s coolest underground clubs. (Do we still have those?)

Dominican – American council member for the 37th District in Brooklyn which includes  Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brownsville, Bushwick, Crown Heights, Cypress Hills, and East New York.

Espinal led the effort to repeal NYC’s cabaret law.
