55th NYC Pride Parade 2024
The 55th NYC Pride Parade 2024 (NYC Pride March) marches down Fifth Avenue from 25th St; on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at 12noon. Some years the parade ends around 6pm, and some years it doesn’t end until late. The Village and Chelsea will be rocking into the wee hours. FREE. 🏳️🌈
NYC Pride Parade Theme
This year’s theme is “Reflect. Empower. Unite.”
So this is about individual freedom, but in the context of the community at large. The LGBTQ+ community made social progress farther and faster than almost any other community, but the backlash has been harsh. It’s worth taking a breath to consider how we move forward together, not as a separate community, but as an integral part of the American fabric.

NYC Pride Parade
Every year, millions of spectators watch more than 700 groups marching in pride. It gets very crowded, especially in Greenwich Village and the West Village. One year, we got swept away in the crowd. That’s a strange feeling because you’re not really walking, just flowing wherever the crowd goes. But everyone was having such a good time, that it was cool. Just know that the crowds are huge.
The first NYC Pride Parade (NYC Pride March) was held in 1970, the year after the Stonewall Uprising. What started as a community movement has grown into a major civil rights demonstration. Most people call it the NYC Pride Parade, but the organizers call it the NYC Pride March to respect its civil rights origins.
New York is more comfortable with its Queerness than many other places, so this is a great festival. The Stonewall Uprising at the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village on June 28 – July 3, 1969 gave a big push to the Pride Movement. This is a celebration of that moment when people stood up against bullying. They just wanted to dance without being harassed. We all want that. If all of us aren’t free, then none of us are free. Show your Pride or show your support!
