Hugo Fontela Nowhere Island
Hugo Fontela Nowhere Island opens with a reception at Marlborough Gallery in Midtown, Manhattan on Thursday, March 15, 2018 from 6 – 8 pm. The exhibition is on view Monday – Saturday through April 14.
Nowhere Island is a series of recent paintings that portray a rocky island surrounded by endless sea. Fontela is showing variations in blue and white.
A tremendous energy stands up in the paintings. They feel 2-1/2 dimensional. The subject is simple, but subtle. The paintings have the energy of a rock that is really there. Very striking!
This is Fontela’s first solo exhibition at Marlborough.
