Alcides Rivas is a Venezuelan-born, New York City-based contemporary artist.
Alcides Rivas Untitled 2018
Untitled 2018 presents new mixed-media paintings inspired by childhood memories of the artist’s grandparent’s coffee farm in the mountains. Embroideries pay homage to the artist’s mother and grandmother who were both seamstresses.
[Editor’s Note:] Venezuela should be one of the richest countries in the Americas. Today it is a failed state that refuses help from the outside. All we have left is our memories. God bless Venezuela.
The exhibition is at Galerie Protégé in Chelsea, Manhattan from Thursday, January 11 – February 7, 2018.
